Former Biden administration nuclear waste expert Sam Brinton has been arrested yet again, this time as a fugitive from justice in Maryland, and is being held without bail.
This is Brinton’s third arrest involving the alleged theft of suitcases at airports. Brinton’s modus operandi appears to involve stealing the luggage of female passengers – strangers who he travels alongside – while at various airports.
The Montgomery County Police Department released a statement revealing “Brinton was arrested at approximately 10 p.m. last night” and he is being held “on a no-bond status.” Specifically, Fox News reports that Brinton is being held with “pending charges of Grand Larceny.”
According to the outlet, a witness who claimed to be Brinton’s neighbor told The Daily Wire that the former nuclear waste expert was arrested “about an hour after four unmarked police cars arrived” at his residence.
Brinton was originally arrested for the theft of a $2,325 Vera Bradley bag from the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport in Minnesota. He secured a 180-day suspended sentence that saw him spend zero time behind bars and pay his victim $3,670 in restitution.
Because Brinton was given a suspended sentence, it is possible that today’s arrest could trigger immediate incarceration for the unrelated incident.
Shortly after that arrest, Brinton was hit with a second arrest, this time by police in Nevada. There he stands accused of “grand larceny with a value between $1,200 and $5,000,” though it’s not clear what items he stole, or the current status of the case.
While Brinton was eventually removed from his Department of Energy position as a nuclear waste expert, the Biden White House originally used his presence on the team to advertise their progressive bona fides.
The White House bragged that Brinton is “a well-known advocate for LGBTQ youth and helped to secure protections against the dangerous and discredited practice of conversion therapy in more than half of the country.”
In fact, the Biden administration insisted Americans refer to Brinton by his desired pronouns and gender identity, instructing White House website visitors that he identifies “as gender-fluid and [uses] the pronouns they, them, and theirs.”
