A new report by Inspector General Michael Horowitz casts blame on the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and several guards for allowing the billionaire pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein to purportedly take his own life in a federal facility in 2019.
Horowitz found no indication of any foul play when investigating the circumstances leading to Epstein’s death according to the New York Post, but levied serious accusations against the BOP and employees charged with watching Epstein.
The Post reported that factors contributing the Epstein’s suicide included the jail’s failure to assign a new cellmate to Epstein, the facility’s broken security cameras, an “excessive amount of bed linens” left in the pedophile’s cell – linens allegedly used by Epstein to commit suicide – and “persistent” staffing shortages at the jail.

Two former correction officers, Nova Noel and Michael Thomas, were apparently “sleeping and online shopping” when they were meant to be checking Epstein every 30 minutes. The Post reports they “were charged for falsifying logs but received no-jail plea deals.” Both men were working overtime at the time of Epstein’s death.
BOP spokesman Scott Taylor, meanwhile, insists that “several enhanced practices” are now in place to keep future suicides from happening on their watch. The facility where Epstein was held has since been shuttered.
“The BOP takes seriously our ability to protect and secure individuals in our custody while ensuring the safety of our correctional employees and the surrounding community,” said Taylor, per the Post. “We make every effort to create a controlled environment within our facilities that is both secure and humane, prioritizing the physical and emotional well-being of those in our care and custody.”

Though alleged victims of Epstein’s crimes were robbed their day in court by his untimely death, J.P. Morgan recently settled an Epstein-related lawsuit for an undisclosed sum thought to be $290 million.
JP Morgan acknowledged “that Epstein’s behaviour was monstrous” in a statement from its lawyers and claimed that “Any association with him was a mistake and we regret it.” The bank insisted, “We would never have continued to do business with him if we believed he was using our bank in any way to help commit heinous crimes.”
Epstein allegedly took his own life in his jail cell on August 10, 2019. He was 66 at the time of his death.
