45th President Donald Trump is scheduled to participate in a town hall on CNN in New Hampshire this month, the liberal network announced on Monday amid reports Trump may skip some of the Republican primary debates.

“CNN This Morning” host Kaitlan Collins is set to moderate the event on May 10 at 9 p.m. ET. when President Trump will be answering questions from an audience made up of New Hampshire Republicans and undeclared voters who expect to vote in the 2024 Republican presidential primary.

The event marks Trump’s first time on CNN since his highly successful 2016 presidential campaign.

In the eyes of most Republican voters, the 45th president remains the frontrunner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. Over the last few weeks, Trump’s poll numbers have continued cast a tall shadow over an increasingly unpopular Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is expected to announce his own presidential bid this month.

The Florida legislature passed legislation last week, as DeSantis traveled to Japan then Israel, that will allow him to run for president without resigning as Florida’s governor. He is expected to sign the bill.

Valiant News reported that a recent Fox News survey revealed that 53% of voters now support the 45th president, up 10% from 43% in February. In contrast, 21% of voters now support DeSantis, down from 28% in February.

Far behind both men, in single digits, are Mike Pence at 6%; Nikki Haley at 4%; Vivek Ramaswamy at 3%; Liz Cheney at 2%, and Tim Scott at 2%.

One individual who will not participate in the CNN Town Hall would be former CNN host Don Lemon, who last week announced that his network had abruptly fired him after working there for 17 years.

“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly,” Lemon claimed.

“At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play,” he continued.

“With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.”
