New 2024 polling shows that 45th President Donald Trump remains the dominant choice of Republican primary voters while support for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis seems to be slipping. Simultaneously, around a fifth of Democratic primary voters are willing to consider a vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. instead incumbent Joe Biden.

The Fox News survey reveals that 53% of voters now support Trump, up 10% from 43% in February. In contrast, 21% of voters now support DeSantis, down from 28% in February.

Far behind both men, in single digits, are Mike Pence at 6%; Nikki Haley at 4%; Vivek Ramaswamy at 3%; Liz Cheney at 2%, and Tim Scott at 2%.

Following patterns established in 2016, the outlet reports that “GOP primary voters with a college degree give DeSantis some of his best numbers, while Trump leads by a wide margin among those without a degree.”

While DeSantis has yet to officially declare a presidential campaign, he is widely expected to do so as early as this month.

The Florida legislature passed legislation last week, as DeSantis traveled to Japan then Israel, that will allow him to run for president without resigning as Florida’s governor. He is expected to sign the bill.

On the Democratic side of the aisle, 62% of primary voters intend to support Biden’s reelection. 19% intend to vote for Kennedy and 9% prefer Marianne Williamson. Apparently both challengers have been most successful at courting “women and Gen Xers” away from Biden, the outlet reported.

Kennedy launched his campaign last month, later holding an hours long rally detailing his policy positions. An early poll found that 46% of Democratic primary voters had “favorable” views of the vaccine skeptic.

While the Democratic Party seems to be coalescing around Biden, the 80-year-old may find discontent within his party’s grassroots as the nomination process kicks off. One recent poll found that 70% of Americans do not want to see him serve a second term, including 51% of Democrats.
