‘Insanity of Wokeism’: Trump-Allied Congresswoman Slams Biden’s ‘Eco-Grief’ Counseling Program

Rep. Harriet Hageman slammed a federal counseling service offered to help U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services employees deal with “eco-grief” as another example of the “insanity of wokeism” during a speech before Congress this week.

Hageman, who was hand picked by 45th President Donald Trump to replace Liz Cheney, claimed the “eco-grief” counseling services are part of a wider federal government plan to advance the woke agenda.

Cowboy State Daily reports that the program took the form of “four-hour seminars offered to USFWS employees” to “help them cope with the effects of eco-grief – or anxiety caused by the perception of an existential environmental crisis.”

Hageman declared the program “another instance of the insanity of wokeism” that is being forced on Americans by “an elitist cabal of ecowarriors who are paid to destroy the very standard of living that allows them to focus on made-up crises, rather than focus on the jobs they are paid for doing.”

Watch Hageman’s speech on Spreely.video:

“Eco-grief is admittedly a smaller budget item than many other woke programs,” said Hageman in Congress, before adding that the size of the program “is no reason to ignore what it portends, or the real underlying agenda being pushed by this federal agency.”

She newly-elected Congresswoman aims to end funding for the program, which Cowboy State Daily seems to suggest will play well with Wyoming voters frustrated with the USFWS.

While many conservatives are likely to dismiss the concept of “eco-grief” or counseling to cope with a job that deals with nature out of hand, the American Psychological Association insists it is a real phenomenon.

The official APA website cites polling that claims “56% of U.S. adults said that climate change is the most important issue facing the world today” and 68% of adults admit to having “at least a little ‘eco-anxiety'” when asked by pollsters.

Treatment, according to the APA, can be made easier for therapists who “can leverage off of what we already know from treating anxiety and depression and trauma,” according to a doctor interviewed on the subject.

Hageman won her 2022 primary election against Cheney in a landslide victory, beating the anti-Trump media darling by 32 points. Speaking to the media after her victory, Hageman credited Cheney’s obsession with Trump for the massive win.

“She’s not focusing on Wyoming, she’s not focusing on our issues,” Hageman said. “She’s still focusing on an obsession about President Trump, and the citizens of Wyoming, the voters of Wyoming, sent a very loud message tonight. We have spoken. And that is not what we are interested in, in terms of our lone congressional representative.”
