Robert Smith, an FBI employee from Utah, has been arrested and charged with the child sex abuse of multiple girls ranging from pre-teen to high school age.
Smith, who sources told Fox 13 worked as a Supervisory Intelligence Analyst with the Salt Lake City Division of the FBI, was arrested last Wednesday, and charged with four felony counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, four misdemeanor counts of lewdness involving a child, and two misdemeanor counts of lewdness.
According to court documents, a young girl told her mother in June that she had to talk to her about something “very uncomfortable” that had happened to her. The girl revealed that Smith had forced her to touch him “inappropriately under his clothes” in 2020, when she was only 6 or 7.

Other girls ranging from pre-teen to high school age, who had also been in contact with Smith, were then contacted and later interviewed. Police say all of the children became emotional and cried when discussing what had happened to them.
Speaking to police, the children said that they were inappropriately touched, with some alleging Smith touched their genitals. One girl also said, like the first victim, Smith forced her to touch him. The abuse allegedly took place at Smith’s previous residence, with the arrest report noting that Smith “occupied a position of special trust as it pertains to the victims in this case.”

In a statement, the FBI said that they were aware of the arrest of Smith for child sex abuse.
“The FBI takes allegations of misconduct very seriously,” the statement reads. “As such, the incident has been referred to the FBI’s Internal Affairs Section. We cannot comment further on an ongoing personnel matter.”

An internal FBI report published by The Federalist in August revealed that FBI Special Agents “sometimes used photographs of young female support staff employees to pose as minor children or sex workers to entice sexual predators on various social media websites.”
The Special Agents in question did not log where the photographs were uploaded, with the FBI unable to find if the pictures were still available on the internet.
One agent allegedly was in an “inappropriate relationship” with a female support staff member, and asked her to “provide provacative pictures of herself for online [undercover] operations.”
