Democrat Congressman: Trump Likely To Win 2024, Will Not ‘End Our Democratic System’

“While I don’t plan to vote for him, Donald Trump is going to win. And I’m OK with that.”

In a surprising turn of events, Democratic Rep. Jared Golden has publicly stated his belief that former President Donald Trump is likely to win the upcoming presidential election, citing President Joe Biden’s lackluster performance in the first debate as a key factor.

Golden’s comments were made in an op-ed for a Maine newspaper, where he expressed his lack of surprise at Biden’s poor showing and his resignation to the idea of a Trump victory.

“After the first presidential debate, lots of Democrats are panicking about whether President Joe Biden should step down as the party’s nominee,” Golden wrote.

“Biden’s poor performance in the debate was not a surprise to me. It also didn’t rattle me as it has others, because the outcome of this election has been clear to me for months: While I don’t plan to vote for him, Donald Trump is going to win. And I’m OK with that.”

He wrote:

There are winners and losers in every election. Democrats’ post-debate hand-wringing is based on the idea that a Trump victory is not just a political loss, but a unique threat to our democracy. I reject the premise. Unlike Biden and many others, I refuse to participate in a campaign to scare voters with the idea that Trump will end our democratic system.

Golden’s remarks have sent shockwaves through the Democratic party, as he is now the second member of Congress from the party to publicly call for Biden to resign, following in the footsteps of Texas Rep. Lloyd Doggett. The comments underscore the growing concern among some Democrats about Biden’s ability to effectively lead the nation and his prospects for reelection.

As the nation gears up for the next presidential election, it remains to be seen whether Biden will heed the calls for his resignation or if he will continue to press forward with his campaign. One thing is clear, however: the stakes are high, and the outcome of the election could have far-reaching consequences for the future of the country.
