In a recent radio interview, President Joe Biden, 81, claimed he was “proud to be the first black woman to serve with a black president,” adding to a growing list of gaffes that critics say are indicative of his cognitive decline.
The bizarre statement comes just days after a disastrous debate performance against former President Donald Trump, leading some Democrats to call for Biden to step down from the race.
During the appearance on a Philadelphia radio station, Biden appeared to confuse himself with Vice President Kamala Harris, who is indeed the first black woman to serve in that role. However, the president’s statement seemed to imply that he himself was the first black woman to serve alongside a black president, which is factually incorrect – nor is Biden black.

“By the way, I’m proud to be the, as I said, the first vice president, first black woman, served with a black president, proud of the first black woman in the Supreme Court.” Biden added, “There’s just so much that we can do because together we, there’s nothing, look, this is the United States America.”
He also referred to himself the “first president that got elected statewide in the state of Delaware, when I was a kid.”
This latest gaffe has only fueled concerns about Biden’s mental fitness for office. Critics point to a pattern of verbal missteps and confusion that have become increasingly common in recent months. Some have even suggested that Biden’s cognitive decline is a serious national security risk.
As the election approaches, it remains to be seen whether Biden’s gaffes will ultimately cost him his bid for re-election. But one thing is certain: the president’s bizarre statements and verbal missteps have only added fuel to the fire of those who question his ability to lead.
