A recent report by the Daily Caller has revealed that the Biden administration drastically simplified the vetting process for Chinese illegal immigrants in April 2023. The move has been met with concern from some experts, who worry that the new system may not be as effective in identifying potential national security risks.
The Daily Caller obtained an internal U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) email that instructed officials to reduce the number of interview questions for Chinese migrants from approximately 40 to just five. The change was made to speed up the processing of illegal immigrants, but critics argue that it could compromise national security.
The shortened questionnaire focuses on five “basic questions” that aim to determine whether or not a Chinese illegal immigrant poses a national security threat. These questions cover topics such as military service, universities, employment, and political party. However, some worry that the streamlined process may not be thorough enough to identify potential threats.

In the past, the vetting process for Chinese illegal immigrants was more stringent, with agents spending up to four hours per person. Now, with the new guidelines, Chinese illegal immigrants are released into the U.S. interior after answering the five basic questions.
Despite the concerns, the Biden administration has defended the changes, arguing that they are necessary to address the surge in illegal immigration at the southern border. However, critics remain unconvinced, and many are calling for a more thorough vetting process to ensure the safety and security of the United States.
