Former President Donald Trump’s distinct style of political discourse was once again on display this past Christmas Day, as he took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to share a holiday message. The greeting, which has drawn both criticism and applause, was characteristic of the former President’s unfiltered approach to communication.
In a departure from the traditional holiday messages, Trump addressed not only his supporters but also his opponents. His message included a critique of current President Joe Biden, the U.S. administration, and certain world leaders. He took aim at various policies and actions, such as open borders, inflation, the Afghanistan withdrawal, the Green New Deal, high taxes, loss of energy independence, military wokeness, the Russia/Ukraine situation, Israel/Iran conflict, and the push for electric cars.
“Merry Christmas to all, including Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged Jack Smith, the out of control Lunatic who just hired outside attorneys, fresh from the SWAMP (unprecedented!), to help him with his poorly executed WITCH HUNT against ‘TRUMP’ and ‘MAGA,'” Trump wrote.
He continued his message, stating, “World Leaders both good and bad,” and those in the U.S. who “with their Open Borders, INFLATION, Afghanistan Surrender, Green New Scam, High Taxes, No Energy Independence, Woke Military, Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Iran, All Electric Car Lunacy, and so much more, are looking to destroy our once great USA.”
The former president concluded his message with a strong sentiment: “MAY THEY ROT IN HELL,” and then returned to the festive theme of his post, writing, “AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!”
Despite the controversy surrounding his holiday message, Trump remains the leading candidate for the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential race, according to the latest Fox News survey. His support has increased by 7 points since November and a full 26 points since February.
In addition to his holiday message, Trump also shared a scene from the 1992 movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, in which he made a brief cameo. He also took the opportunity to criticize former President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act, promising to provide a better and more affordable alternative.
Former President Trump’s Christmas message, while unconventional and contentious, underscores the polarized political climate of our time. It also serves as a reminder of his enduring influence within the Republican Party, despite the ongoing legal battles he faces.
