House Republicans are expected to convene a private meeting on Friday morning to discuss the possibility of holding a vote to formalize an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, according to information obtained by Fox News Digital.

The meeting will allegedly include the chairpersons of the three committees investigating Biden and his family. These include Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky.; Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; and Ways & Means Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo., who will present their case before the House GOP Conference.

In September, former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., instructed the House to initiate an impeachment inquiry into Biden. However, the White House has dismissed the probe as illegitimate in the absence of a formal vote.

Sources suggest that GOP leaders believe a House-wide vote on formalizing the impeachment inquiry could make it more challenging for the Biden administration to resist House Republicans’ subpoenas and requests for information. Moderate Republicans have also indicated support for Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., holding a vote on the inquiry.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez, R-Fla., told Fox News Digital, “There’s plenty of smoke coming out of the White House which justifies an impeachment inquiry.” Similarly, Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., expressed support for a formal impeachment inquiry.

The potential vote would affirm House GOP support for investigating Biden but would not, in itself, result in the president being impeached. A Republican lawmaker shared with Fox News Digital their belief that there is sufficient support for such a measure to pass.

At a recent press conference, GOP leaders along with Comer, Jordan, and Smith presented their case for investigating the president and his family, accusing them of profiting from his time as vice president.

The White House has dismissed the inquiry as a “baseless fishing expedition,” denying any wrongdoing. Ian Sams, a White House spokesman, criticized the inquiry and accused House Republicans of attempting to distract from their own issues.
