Fox News prohibited Donald Trump Jr., son of former President Donald Trump, and Kimberly Guilfoyle from entering the ‘spin room’ following the recent GOP debate.
The spin room, traditionally an area where candidates and their surrogates interact with the media post-debate, was off-limits to Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle, causing a stir in political circles and leading to allegations of biased treatment.
Fox News had previously announced that no surrogates for Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign would be granted access to the debate spin room. This decision marked a significant departure from traditional practices, wherein surrogates are typically allowed to provide their perspective on the candidates’ performance.
The decision to block Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle was met with visible frustration. Trump Jr. was seen seething at Fox News, accusing them of trying to stifle the voices of his father’s supporters. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene also expressed her displeasure, having been denied entry to the spin room as well.

The first Republican presidential primary debate of the 2024 election cycle featured eight GOP candidates and was aired on Fox News. Despite the absence of the former president, his influence was palpable throughout the event. Trump Jr. even suggested that his father might skip future debates as well, following his decision not to participate in this one.
Most pundits have claimed either businessman Vivek Ramaswamy or Florida Governor Ron DeSantis won the night, with Ramaswamy seeming to serve as a stand-in for Trump at times, while DeSantis largely avoided controversy.
Despite being the most important figure in the Republican Party, former President Trump merited only ten minutes of questions from the moderators. This limited focus on Trump has led some to accuse Fox News of trying to distance the party from its most influential figure.
The blocking of Trump Jr. and other surrogates from the ‘spin room’ is seen by some as part of this alleged distancing effort. Whether this becomes a trend in future debates remains to be seen.
As the 2024 Presidential election approaches, the tension between the Trump camp and Fox News adds another layer of complexity to an already heated political environment. The move has sparked debates about media fairness and the role of news organizations in shaping political discourse.
Trump, meanwhile, received more than 200 million views on his interview with Tucker Carlson published on X, formerly Twitter.
