Female swimming star Riley Gaines was allegedly violently assaulted by a “transgender male” while delivering a speech at San Francisco State University on the importance of keeping female sports exclusive to biological women.
Reports and video from the speech purport that a “Transgender Male, wearing a dress, punched Riley repeatedly while the Trans Mob chased and harassed her” until Gaines eventually made her way off the campus.
A pro-transgenderism mob of students can be heard using misogynist epithets against Gaines as she attempted to flee the violence with a police escort.

Another Twitter user describes the violent incident as a hostage situation, and posted video that appears to show the mob of students extort Gaines for money in exchange for safe passage off campus.

Gaines addressed the incident on Twitter, writing that the “prisoners are running the asylum at SFSU.”
“I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man,” wrote Gaines, who added that her assailant provided “proof that women need sex-protected spaces.”
The athlete-turned-activist added that the violence “only further assures me I’m doing something right.”
The prisoners are running the asylum at SFSU…I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man. This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces.
Still only further assures me I'm doing something right. When they want you silent, speak louder. 🗣️ pic.twitter.com/uJW3x9RERf

The Independent Women’s Forum, a conservative non-profit focused on women’s issues which Gaines represents as a spokesperson, decried the incident in a statement.
“We strongly condemn the violence perpetuated against [IWF] spokeswoman Riley Gaines on [the] SFSU campus,” the organization declared.”Riley was violently accosted, ambushed, and physically assaulted during a speech on sex discrimination women face in their own single-sex sports category.”

Gaines became a lightning rod within the movement to preserve female sports for biological women as a student athlete for the University of Kentucky, when she was forced to compete with male-to-female transgender athlete Lia Thomas.
Thomas and Gaines tied in a 2022 women’s freestyle event at the NCAA championships in Atlanta, Georgia, sparking outrage that a biological male was outshining biological females in a division created for the sex’s benefit.
