New Yorker Journalist Deletes Twitter Account Amid Accusations Of Being Pedophile Apologist

The New Yorker journalist Rachel Monroe appears to have deleted her Twitter account after facing widespread criticism for publishing an article detailing her belief that the “rise of amateur predator-hunting stings” is “disturbing,” leading many users online to accuse her of defending pedophiles.

“I wrote about the chaotic world of amateur predator-hunter stings on YouTube, which combine many of the Internet’s worst trends,” Monroe wrote in a since-deleted tweet.

According to The New Yorker journalist, these groups, who aim to put pedophiles behind bars and protect minors, are partaking in “stunts for clout, vigilante justice, and groomer panic,” ostensibly suggesting that it is abnormal for people to be concerned with the prospect of children being manipulated into sexual exploitation.

The article, titled The Disturbing Rise of Amateur Predator-Hunting Stings, was published on Tuesday and has since been archived by Libs of Tik Tok, who commented on the piece, “The state of Liberal media. They’re now upset that pedophiles are getting caught.”

Shortly after Libs of Tik Tok raised awareness of the article, Monroe appeared to delete her entire Twitter account. “UPDATE: Rachel just deleted her Twitter account after she wrote a piece siding with pedophiles,” tweeted Libs of Tik Tok.

An Open Secret, another Twitter account aimed at protecting children from sexual predators, chimed in on the situation and informed users that Monroe had claimed without any evidence that “There’s little evidence that sex offender registries have been effective at reducing sexual offenses.”

Conservative pundit Robby Starbuck accused Monroe of writing the article with the intention of preventing child predator sting operations, thus allowing pedophiles to target children easier.

“This @NewYorker ‘journalist’ got ratio’d so hard she deleted her account after @JackPosobiec & @libsoftiktok called her out for her disgusting piece that reads as if an angry predator wrote it in hopes these sting operations would stop to make it easier for them to harm children,” Starbuck wrote.

“In the piece she says predator hunters ‘portray themselves as good guys’ but have ‘mixed’ track records in reality. To back this up she cites one group banned from a grocery store and a 20 year old predator who hung himself after being caught trying to have sex with a child,” Starbuck continued in a thread.

I don’t see the problem with those any of those outcomes and I don’t think any normal human being has sympathy for adults who try to rape children. The @NewYorker should apologize for this piece and pull it. If a predator wrote it, I’m not sure what they’d do differently.

Starbuck called on The New Yorker to apologize for the article and delete it.
