CNN Will Fire Even More Employees This December: Leaked CEO Memo

Major layoffs may be coming to CNN as soon as December, according to a leaked memo reportedly written by its CEO

A leaked internal memo reportedly sent by CNN CEO Chris Licht reportedly reveals that the hyper-partisan cable network will fire even more employees this year as it faces lower revenue combined with fewer viewers.

The memo was apparently written by Licht in October after CNBC reported that the network’s revenue would drop below $1 billion for the first time since 2016.

Licht, the new CEO who fired major CNN personalities in his first year on the job in a reported attempt to shake the network’s left-wing brand, revealed that the network was in trouble in a subsequent memo sent to employees and now reportedly went public.

He warned that layoffs will “affect people, budgets, and projects,” reported The Daily Caller, before adding that it means visible changes to the network.

“There is widespread concern over the global economic outlook, and we must factor that risk into our long-term planning,” the CEO reportedly wrote in the memo, adding that “All this together will mean noticeable change to this organization.”

“That, by definition, is unsettling. These changes will not be easy because they will affect people, budgets, and projects.”

The memo came roughly one week before a company town hall where Licht confirms major layoffs will be coming, but did not comment on rumors that affected employees were already known by management.

Yesterday, meanwhile, Fox News reported that Licht was given the CEO slot at the network with the understanding he would be tasked with cutting $100 million in jobs to balance the network’s budget.

One insider told the conservative network that the network has “a lot of fat” from the Jeff Zucker era, and “these layoffs are probably necessary” to make the network competitive in the 2020s.

The rumored layoffs come as the networks’ ratings remain abysmal, with little sign of improvement.

Earlier this month, Adweek declared the network “in desperate need of a ratings jolt” and noted that it received a minor one thanks to its midterm coverage. However, the analysts added, ” CNN’s 2022 Midterms viewership was substantially down relative to previous midterms.”

Licht is on the right track. If he doesn’t chicken out he could make cnn into a news organization again. JUST THE NEWS without the partisan spin and brainwashing would be a huge success. Especially since Fox has gone woke. Get back to reporting the news(like when you were founded) and people will watch.

The RC Cola of the MSM world. They’ll manage to hang around and attract enough of ‘perpetually happy to be unhappy’ crowd to be viable. We all know people like this, the dour, sour, forever feeling unappreciated, oppressed complainers. The current on air CNN personalities reflect this outlook.

How sad that CNN made the decision to become a fake left wing propaganda, non-news organization, causing their own demise. Everyone is entitled to their own view, but placing all your eggs in the toxic liberal basket is very shortsighted. People get so gorged on nastiness that to save themselves from total destruction they have to throw it back up. I had just moved here from a country in Europe, and CNN broadcast something about the country I came from that was very one-sided and deceptive. I called them and told them, and within a couple of days they broadcast a program that told the story from the other point of view. If they had continued that way they would not be in such a mess now.

You’re right. I occasionally watch a few minutes of CNN, just to see what they are doing. The new owner of CNN is changing things, and has gotten rid of Cuomo, Stelter and others. The CNN crew live in a 10 second echo chamber.
In the 12 months before the take over, I noticed at least three times (there were probably more) CNN talking heads did 30 minute panel discussions on a topic that greatly disturbs them. The panels were comprised variously of Anderson Cooper, Acosta, Toobin, Stelter, Lemon, Bash, Tapper, Cillizza, Blitzer, Burnett, and others. They shared their outrage at being reminded of or confronted with their previous tweets, statements and actions. They call it “a dishonest, discredited, conservative tactic of what about-ism.” They ranted that it is not fair when anyone brings up what they tweeted, or said or did, and comparing it with what they are tweeting, saying or doing in front of a camera right now. They claim it undermines what they are trying to accomplish. Yep. It shows what liars and hypocrites they are.
I lived in Europe (Denmark and Germany) a total of 13 years. Most of the MSM count on their American viewers living in the same 10 second echo chamber.

Actually I stopped watching CNN years ago when over time several major reporters broadcasted outright lies for news reports. That is, except for Fareed. But he is no hyper-partisan for the left, just a global sensation reporter providing that scope of reporting to place the United States in its perspective worldwide. So I’m reacting mostly to a station report that I’m not familiar with for the most part. But it’s good that any mainstream media outlet reviews its editorial and financial and viewership policies regularly. If only the myriad of right wing extremist broadcasters would do the same, I wouldn’t have to unsubscribe to so many who send their tripe to my inbox without my lifting a finger to access them.

The liberal CNN crew believe like AOC, that leftist/progressive talking point are actual facts.
For instance, when she blew up the NYC Amazon deal, she claimed it was a great victory for “the people.” It would have brought 25,000 high paying jobs as well as all the economic boon to businesses in the surrounding community. And, AOC still thinks the $1.2B NY & NYC tax incentives offered to Amazon are a pile of cash. “..that we could invest in improving our (NYC) infrastructure if we wanted to.”
Another note: In her first national interview with Anderson Cooper. Cooper asked AOC how she planned to pay for the Green New Deal. She said people at the “tippy top” will have to pay more taxes. Cooper did not ask her to identify that income level.

Only reason they lasted this long is they bundle that trash and MSNBC into your cable bill. Hope Joe Scarborough and his very beastly wife are next on MSNBC to bite the dust.
