New court documents reveal that Nicholas Roske, the man who police say traveled to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home with a gun to assassinate him, actually identifies as a male-to-female transgender woman named “Sophie.”

Roske apparently used social media and Discord servers to plan his alleged assassination attempt, and share his plans with other. While not using Discord, Roske apparently devoted a serious amount of time to attempts to find a sexual or romantic partner comfortable with his transgender status.

In one post, Roske described himself as “a 24 year old MtF college graduate” seeking “a woman to cuddle and watch movies with.” Roske added, “If this turns into making out, etc. that’s cool.”

Later in the same post, Roske revealed that he feels uncomfortable around men.

Court filings also include Google searches police say were made by Roske before he traveled across the country to kill Kavanaugh, and excerpts from Discord conversations in which the suspect revealed his intention to kill three members of the high court.

Per the court document, in a conversation dated May 25, Roske told an unnamed person he was “gonna stop roe v wade from being overturned.” When asked how, Roske replied he planned to “remove some people from the supreme court.”

The person on the other end of the conversation, incredulous, asked if Roske planned to run after. “Two dead judges ain’t gonna do nothing,” the person wrote on Discord. “You would die before you killed them all.”

Police say Roske replied, “yeah but I could get at least one, which would change the votes for decades to come,” he added, “I am shooting for 3.”

Roske was arrested outside Kavanaugh’s home on June 8, after police say he called 911 and told the operator that he was armed and wanted to kill the Supreme Court Justice.

In an audio recording of the 911 call, Roske described having a handgun, apparently in an airline-safe travel case that was still zip-tied, and told dispatchers that he believed he needed “psychiatric help” because of his planned actions.

“I need psychiatric help,” Roske told the 911 operator. He also revealed that he’s been “hospitalized multiple times” for mental health reasons.

Gun laws in California and Maryland failed to stop the suspect, who many believe is mentally ill, from obtaining a firearm and attempting to use it to kill a Supreme Court Justice.

Maryland requires individuals to have their digital fingerprints submitted to police, then file an application to buy a gun, then take a 16-hour firearms course, then have their application reviewed by police. It’s unclear how Roske could have accomplished any of this, given he is believed to have traveled from the airport directly to Kavanaugh’s home.

In the 911 call, Roske told police “I just came from the airport.”

In the call, Roske seems to reveal that he bought the Glock pistol in California, which has some of the most severe restrictions on gun ownership in the country.

Recently, Roske’s lawyers asked police to throw out the confession he made immediately after being arrested.
