Golden State Warriors basketball star Andrew Wiggins revealed this week that he regrets submitting to a local vaccine mandate that required him to take the Covid vaccine in order to play in the NBA.
Wiggins made the comments during an interview with sports website FanSided on Monday.
“I still wish I didn’t get [vaccinated], to be honest with you,” Wiggins said. “I did it, and I was an All-Star this year and champion, so that was the good part, just not missing out on the year, the best year of my career.
Wiggins added that he got the vaccine solely because of San Frncisco’s vaccine mandate requiring people to show proof of vaccination to attend or play in indoor sporting events.
“But for my body, I just don’t like putting all that stuff in my body, so I didn’t like that, and I didn’t like that it wasn’t my choice,” he added. “I didn’t like that it was either get this or don’t play.”
President Joe Biden stated in June that the US government needs to raise money via taxation to “plan for the second pandemic,” appearing to go off script in predicting “another pandemic.”
“I know you’re looking for more money from Congress for this vaccine campaign and for Covid funding going into the fall,” a reporter asked, “Uh, how much of the supply of vaccines for these small children, uh, is there and how many of the nation’s kids will be vaccinated before you need more money from Congress?”
Biden replied, “Well, we’ll get through at least this year. We do need more money. But we don’t just need more money for vaccines for children, eventually. We need more money to plan for the second pandemic.”
“There’s going to be another pandemic,” Biden continued. “We have to think ahead, and that’s not something the last outfit did very well. That’s something we’ve been doing fairly well, that’s why we need the money.”
