Four people, including the suspect, reportedly dead following an attempted mass murder incident at an Indiana mall on Sunday. Police credited a “Good Samaritan” armed with a handgun.
“It appears that a good Samaritan that was armed observed the shooting in progress and shot the shooter,” Greenwood Chief James Ison stated during a press conference on Sunday.
Fox News reported that Ison described the citizen who neutralized the shooter as a “a good Samaritan with a handgun,” and that two other people were wounded and are being treated at local hospitals.
Police reportedly responded to the situation around 6 p.m.
“As you can imagine, this type of situation is horrible,” Ison said. “It’s rocked us to our core.”
Greenwood is a south suburb of Indianapolis with a population of about 60,000.
Many left-wing activists have pushed for the disarming of legal gun owners and restrictions on concealed carry during 2022, in an attempt to make gun control a wedge issue ahead of the upcoming national elections.
