VIDEO: Norm MacDonald Joked About Transgenders in Comedy Special Filmed Before His Death

“When I was a little boy, I went up to my dad. I said ‘Dad, I think I’m a little girl.’ And he said ‘I thought you had a c*ck?’ And I said, ‘Oh yeah. You got me.'”

A newly released comedy special from late comedian Norm MacDonald, who died last year after a private battle with cancer, features politically incorrect jokes about transgenderism. MacDonald recorded the special last year before his death in September.

In a video clip of the bit posted to Twitter, MacDonald explained how “words have changed” in modern times, recalling a story about his time as a young child speaking to his father.

“Words have changed, folks. That’s the way things go, man. They’re always gonna be different. You know words, they change.” The comedian teased, “That’s why I can’t understand goddamn Shakespeare. You know?”

“I remember one time when I was a little boy, I went up to my dad. I said ‘Dad, I think I’m a little girl.’ And he said ‘I thought you had a cock?’ And I said, ‘Oh yeah. You got me.'”

MacDonald added, “Now the only reason I tell you that is to show you how hateful we were back then.”

The late comedy legend pointed out that his father couldn’t have been “all evil or all good,” and noted that he fought in World War II.

“Now, every person knows we’re all nuanced, we aren’t all evil or all good, you know? He did good stuff. He fought In the second world war! He fought Hitler.”

MacDonald joked, “He had help, he didn’t have a fistfight with Hitler. I’m saying, he liberated us from what could have been the icy grip of Nazism. So that was his good side.”

“His evil side was this crazy idea he had,” said the comedian, “That having a cock had something to do with being a boy. I don’t even know where you can come up with such an idea.”

“Nowadays, we can’t wrap our heads around that kind of thinking, that people used to actually think that,” he said.

The special, which was self-shot by MacDonald during the COVID-19 lockdowns that shuttered comedy clubs across the country, was announced by Netflix in a trailer last month. It’s since been released by the streaming platform.

MacDonald’s decades long career featured a stint on “Saturday Night Live”, where he became beloved by Americans while playing the anchor of the news satire segment “Weekend Update” from 1994 until 1998.

At the time, MacDonald’s comedy was partially characterized by politically incorrect humor.
