A group of men in San Lorenzo, California crashed the San Lorenzo library “Drag Queen Story Hour” on Saturday afternoon to confront a drag queen who was reading to little children, who the men seemingly believed were being groomed by a “pedophile.”
The scene, which was captured on video, shows the men entering the library saying “we want to know why there’s a pedophile here,” referring to Chinese-American gay drag queen “Panda Dulce.”
All of the story hour attendees, children included, were wearing masks on their faces. When they attempted to tell the men to wear a mask, the men refused and said “we’re medically exempt.” Some of the men carried rosaries as they confronted the event, video shows.
Parents of the children were observed on video reminding the confrontational men that “there’s children” in the room, to which one of the men replied, “why would you bring your children to a pedophile?”

“You should be ashamed of yourself,” one of the men told the parents. “Why would you want to bring children to this? Why would you want to expose your children to this, just to prove how tolerant you are? A pedophile?” asked another man.
“You want to expose your children to pedophiles to prove how tolerant you are,” he said. “This is disgusting,” another man said. “It’s sick.”
When attendees of the “Drag Queen Story Hour” threatened to call the police, the men replied “call them! There’s a pedophile here with children. Call them!
“This is disgusting. What the hell is wrong with you people. These poor children,” the man said. “How dare you guys. You Godless whores. You guys are sick.”
The drag queen was then escorted into a back room while the men continued arguing with parents and library staff.
The men cited a video released by the drag queen depicting him lip-syncing to an old 2006 SNL song by Natalie Portman while brandishing a kitchen knife.
The men specifically took issue to the line in the song where it stated “all the kids looking up to me can suck my d*ck.”
“You can protect the tranny. We’re here to protect the children,” the man said.
The men, which are rumored to be affiliated with the Proud Boys, are apparently under investigation for a “hate crime” according to local reports.
After the situation occurred, Dulce was interviewed by local news, and remains firm in his choice to continue reading to little children while in drag.
“They were successful in scaring us, but they weren’t successful in their ultimate goal which is to make us go away because of their own discomfort with the diversity of our world. They failed in that,” Dulce said.
Dulce, an Ivy league graduate and social worker, has been doing “Drag Queen Story Hour” for a number of years.

“It’s important that children are able to interact with queer people and people on the LGBT spectrum, just to demonstrate that we’re human too,” Dulce said in a 2017 interview with Fusion.
