White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre erroneously claimed on Thursday that the majority of Republicans and NRA members supports bans on so-called “assault weapons.”

“The things that we are calling for, when you think about uh, uh, you know when you think about background checks, expanding that, uh, when you think about uh, banning assault weapons,” Jean-Pierre said.

“Uh, these are items, uh, that are incredibly popular with the very constituencies that these congressional members represent, uh, when you look at uh, when you look at even NRA members, when you look at Republican, uh, voters out there, uh, Americans out there,” Jean-Pierre claimed.

Jean-Pierre’s assertion that “assault weapons” bans are popular among Americans is especially absurd since most gun rights advocates reject the vague and loosely defined concept of an “assault weapon” is.

Previous assault weapons legislation in U.S. used features that do not pertain to the killing potential of the firearm, such as pistol grips, barrel length, flash hiders, and rail mounts to define the term.

Additionally, data shows that gun sales tend to spike following Democratic politicians’ attempts to criminalize firearm ownership.

Jean-Pierre is perhaps most famous for revealing her racial and sexual status to a country that was already aware.

Her background was reported on extensively prior to her official succession to the position. Most Americans, and entire audience of reporters in the briefing room, were already aware of her racial and sexual status.

“I just want to say a few words about how honored I am to be here with you today, uh, in this role, in this room, standing behind this podium, ” Jean-Pierre said in May.

The new press secretary then revealed that she was “obviously acute aware” of her racial and sexual status “representing a few firsts.”

“I am a black, gay, immigrant woman, the first of all three of those to hold this position,” Jean-Pierre then announced to the already-informed audience.
