Arizona Judge: Brnovich Took Too Long To Investigate 2020 Claims, Fixes Won’t Be Ready For 2022 Midterms

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, who is now running for U.S. Senate, took too long to investigate the claims put forward by auditors for the Arizona Senate, and now changes to election laws will not be in place by the 2022 midterm elections.

Following the high profile Arizona Senate audit of the 2020 election votes tabulated in Maricopa County, Senate President Karen Fann referred the auditors’ findings to Brnovich for him to determine if wrongdoing had been committed, and what must be done to prevent skepticism in future election results.

Brnovich did not act for several months, even as 45th President Donald Trump sent letters and published public statements urging him to investigate, and even as pundits suggested Trump was waiting to see if Brnovich would act before making an endorsement in that race. He ultimately endorsed Blake Masters.

Now, Brnovich demanded Democrat Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, who is currently running to become Arizona’s next governor, “improve the election procedure manual for the 2022 elections”.

Hobbes resisted, and the matter wound up in court. Brnovich lost.

“At this point in the game, there is no mechanism for the Court to assist the parties in constructing an EMP which complies with [the law] within the timelines of the statute,” Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Nohn Napper wrote in his opinion, as reported by The Epoch Times. Napper was appointed by Republican Gov. Doug Ducey, a political enemy of Trump.

“The Complaint was filed far too late for this to occur without disrupting elections that have already begun,” the judge concluded.

Brnovich only demanded Hobbes act in April of this year, despite the audit concluding in September of 2021.

When Trump endorsed Masters over Brnovich, he suggested that Brovich’s alleged inaction on election integrity informed his decision.

“Mark Brnovich is such a disappointment to me,” wrote Trump in the statement where he endorsed Masters. “He is the current Arizona Attorney General, and while he understands what took place in the 2020 Presidential Election,” the former president wrote, “he only views it as something he would like not to see happen again.”

“Arizona is a State where the 2020 election was Rigged and Stolen, and a very thorough audit proved it,” Trump asserted. “Blake knows that the ‘Crime of the Century’ took place, he will expose it and also, never let it happen again.”
