Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene slammed the new Ukraine funding bill that would send $40 billion to the country, reminding lawmakers that they should instead prioritise the needs of desperate Americans.
The new Ukraine funding bill passed in the House on Tuesday night by 368 votes to 57, with all 219 Democrats voting in favour of it. As part of the “bipartisan” bill, which CNN said was a “rare bright spot” on Capitol Hill, is part of a wide spending package that distributes money to a wide variety of sources, with some being a more pressing need than others.
As Greene highlighted on Tuesday in a lengthy Twitter thread, $54 million of funding in the bill is designated for covid spending in Ukraine, an unknown amount of money going to the CIA “for who knows what,” $900 billion for various “non-profits,” and $17 billion set aside for the White House to distribute as part of “operating expenses.”

“If this is about saving lives, let’s be real, then we would care about war-torn countries like Ethiopia,” Representative Greene said on the House floor, as part of a fiery speech opposing the bill.
The Congresswoman from Georgia accused DC politicians of “completely ignoring” the border crisis, the baby formula crisis, “brutal inflation” and “skyrocketing gas prices,” and were far more concerned about sending billions to Ukraine in order to fund “regime change and money-laundering scams, and US politician cover-ups of their crimes.”
“The American people do not support paying for constant US involvement in foreign affairs while our own government fails our own country,” Greene said.
“Let me remind everyone here. We swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, and our borders, we should be paying attention to our country right now.”
I want to remind Congress we swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
It’s time to pay attention to our country and our borders.

As Valiant News reported, Representative Greene, one of the most ardent supporters of America First policies in Congress, defeated a leftist attempt to remove her from the primary ballot last week, with a judge ruling that she will be able to run for re-election.
