Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) started an argument with a Twitter account named “Chigg Bungus” on Wednesday over the $40 billion U.S. aid package for Ukraine authorized this week, which Crenshaw fervently supports.
Crenshaw has a history of insulting and starting arguments with random social media users who criticize his policy positions.
The Texas rep. posted an article from the Wall Street Journal on his Twitter account Wednesday, and was promptly ratioed on the tweet, receiving over twice as many replies as likes.
One Twitter account named Chigg Bungus that replied, “Yeah you sound off about that stuff but then you vote yes on the $40 billion to Ukraine,” drew Crenshaw’s ire.

“Yeah, because investing in the destruction of our adversary’s military, without losing a single American troop, strikes me as a good idea. You should feel the same,’ Crenshaw wrote.
In response, @BungusChigg wrote, “Buddy you’re crying about inflation but you’re only making it worse how are we getting the 40 billion when inflation is increasing every single day.”

Crenshaw’s reply drew an even bigger ratio than the original post, garnering over 400 replies and 23 likes at press time.
The congressman direct messaged Second Amendment activist Kaitlin Bennett on Twitter in 2019 to argue about his support for “red flag” gun seizure laws, then publicly seethed at her in a reply in 2020.
“A totally ignorant comment from you. As usual. Read twitter, the news, anything,” Crenshaw wrote in response to a tweet from Bennett criticized his perceived lack of support for then-President Donald Trump.

The next day, Crenshaw tweeted at Bennett, “Are you really this incapable of reading? I’m saying investigate every irregularity. Fight it in the courts. Read.”

In 2021, Crenshaw went into the Instagram comment of a gym owner who criticized him to call the business owner a “wannabe tough guys who never did anything but talk sh*t and LARP as a patriot.”
When the gym owner was described as “based” on Twitter,” Crenshaw took to the replies again to write “‘Based’ how exactly? Because he talks sh*t and acts tough? Wow. Impressive resume. Don’t fall for these charlatans.”

Crenshaw raved that conservative activist Michelle Malkin was an “absolute joke” after she called him “John McCain with an eyepatch” in yet another Twitter argument.
Hey genius, your comments are packed with Democrats cheering you on. You are an absolute joke.
And “party hardy”? What does that even mean?
