“House of Cards” actor Kevin Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexual assault against three men in the United Kingdom years after being accused of inappropriate sexual advances toward younger men.
Spacey was charged after Metropolitan Police reviewed evidence that was gathered in a previous investigation, Yahoo News reported.
The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service alleges that the incidents involving the three men took place in London between March 2005 and August 2008, and in Gloucestershire in April 2013. The actor has additionally been charged with “causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.”
“The CPS has authorized criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men,” Crown Prosecution Service Special Crime Division chief Rosemary Ainslie said in a statement today. “He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.
The charges follow a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation,” she said. “The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr. Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”
During the second day of convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s “Lolita Express” pilot Lawrence Paul Visoski Jr. stated that Spacey had flown on Epstein’s private plane, among other politicians and artists.
The popular American actor’s career spiraled into collapse following multiple allegations of sexual assault and misconduct in November 2017, but the charges in the U.S. were dropped and Spacey denies most of the allegations.
After he was sacked from “House of Cards”, Spacey raised eyebrows with a series of annual videos that appeared to be in-character as his role from the Netflix show.
At least three of the men who made accusations against Spacey have died in one year after going public with their claims against the actor.
