U.S. Senate candidate Blake Masters (R-AZ) came out in support of African-American philanthropist Elon Musk’s offer to buy out Twitter and preserve free speech on the platform, stating “I hope he takes over the entire company and fires all the left wing radicals.”

Masters made the remarks during an appearance on Newsmax TV on Thursday.

“I think what Elon is doing is really cool, frankly,” Masters stated. “I always like it when rich people do something interesting with their money, most of them just kind of, don’t do anything like what Elon’s doing, and it’s fun to watch the left melt down over this.”

“Like, ‘How dare a billionaire own a media outlet or a communications tool!'” Masters said, mocking left wing corporate activists’ response to the Musk buyout offer. “Never mind that like half of them work for the Washington Post, owned by Jeff Bezos.”

Masters continued, “And so, here’s Elon. He’s got the resources, he actually cares about free speech, unlike every Democrat, unlike everybody on the left. And he’s doing something about it, right?”

“I wish him well,” Masters concluded. “I hope he takes over the entire company and fires all the left wing radicals.”

Twitter employees are reportedly not handling the news of Musk’s attempt to acquire the platform well.

The New York Times reported on Thursday that many employees of the left-wing tech platform “felt rocked by the news” that Musk wants to bring the companies’ Terms of Service in line with the First Amendment.

Employees reportedly expressed concerns that Musk could overhaul the complex political censorship systems “that many of Twitter’s employees have spent years thinking about, tweaking and refining with a painstaking level of care,” among other things.

The Times reported that Musk’s buyout offer “scared many staffers who are familiar with the billionaire’s history of erratic behavior,” with one staffer comparing it to a “hostage situation.”
