EXC: Independent UK Reporter Steve Laws Warns of Worldwide Government-Backed Migration Crisis

Steve Laws, a prominent citizen journalist covering the influx of illegal migrants across the English Channel, told Valiant News’s Associate Editor Jack Hadfield that the patterns of mass migration are playing out the same across the world with government backing.

Laws, who was seen on screen with Hadfield as part of his groundbreaking documentary “Destination Dover: Migrants in the Channel,” provided the audience with an update since filming in October 2020.

The independent journalist noted that shortly after filming, the Napier Barracks in Folkestone was partially burned down by the migrants in protest, and that the numbers have grown “rapidly,” and continue to do so.

“It was 1,800 that arrived in 2019, in 2020 it was 8,500, and in 2021, it was 28,500,” he said. “This year there has been 4,559, and [in March] alone, 2,679.”

Laws highlighted that despite covid-related travel restrictions, mass migration increased, not decreased, over the English Channel. “The pandemic didn’t stop it at all, if anything, it accelerated it, because nobody’s eyes were on it,” he argued.

“Whilst everyone was locked in their homes, the media wasn’t covering it at all. That’s why I got into this” said Laws. “I realised that nobody was knowing what was going on. Whilst everyone was locked down, thousands upon thousands of young, fighting-aged men have been flooding in via the Border Force and their lifeboats. You couldn’t make it up.”

“They’re ferrying them in, it’s a very organised thing,” he said of the migration crisis. “Those that slip through the organised process can simply phone a hotline and the RNLI or the Border Force will go and pick them up from the middle of the English Channel.”

Laws is currently producing and filming a new documentary, tracking the migration of people across the English Channel, to being put into temporary accommodation, to finally being distributed across the UK. He noted that the exact same situation is playing out on the American/Mexican border, just on a “much larger” scale.

“They get ferried in by the government, loaded onto coaches, given cards for money, clothes, cash, and eventually put into social housing,” Laws said, adding that it was not just Britain and America facing this problem, but that it was being mirrored all over the developed world.

Unsurprisingly, the British government, including the Border Force and the police, tried very hard to stop him, and other independent journalists, from filming tens of thousands of illegal migrants being ferried by the authorities onto UK soil.

“When I first started doing it, the Border Force and the police were very aggressive,” Laws explained, adding that he had been arrested a few times simply for being there filming. “I’ve had trumped up charges… tarnishing my name in the media, everything. It’s a snowball effect to try and make you out to be some sort of far-right extremist simply for filming boats.”

The independent journalist has also been banned from Twitter and other social media just for posting video content about migration flows across the Channel.

“A lot of my posts will get shared by political parties, candidates, journalists, commentators, they’re all sharing this work and it’s going far,” Laws said. “Those who don’t want people to know about this obviously don’t like the idea of it being shared wide, so it’s easier to get rid of somebody like me before the message gets even further.”

Twitter ultimately reinstated Laws’ account, explaining that they falsely removed him for spam.

Laws is active on his Gab account and on his Telegram channel.
