Boris Johnson: ‘I Don’t Think Biological Men Should Be Competing in Female Sporting Events’

Boris Johnson says biological men should not be playing women’s sports, and children should not be making decisions about gender

Earlier today United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson took a stand against biological males who are male-to-female transgender playing in female sports, noting that this is not a subject he expected to become acquainted with as a British politician.

“I don’t think biological men should be competing in female sporting events,” said Johnson in what amounts to a rebuke to the transgender movement.

Johnson also said that it’s not “reasonable” for “kids” to make “decisions about their gender or irreversible treatments that they may have,” referring to the increasing adolescent use of puberty blockers and other complex hormone drugs to stall, delay or reverse normal puberty.

The British Prime Minister was asked about the subject because he is championing a ban on homosexual conversion therapy in the United Kingdom.

He insisted that his support for the ban is separate from the transgender discussion.

“There are complexities and sensitivities when you move from the area of sexuality to the question of gender,” said Johnson, adding “This is something that frankly, people like me… it wasn’t something I thought I’d have to consider in great detail.”

He added, “These are novel concepts, we’ve got to be clear about that.”

Guido Fawkes notes that Johnson’s comments on the issues is a departure from most British Conservatives, who typically remain silent on the subject.

However, one biologically male Tory MP, Jamie Wallis, recently expressed his vocal support for transgenderism and announced his intention to live as a woman.

“I’m trans. Or to be more accurate, I want to be,” Wallis said in a statement posted to Twitter at 2:48 a.m. “I’ve been diagnosed with gender dysphoria and I’ve felt this way since I was a very young child,” he added, making him the first Member of Parliament in history to ever come out as transgender.

He also blamed a being raped by a man who would not wear a condom for a recent car accident, saying that he had PTSD from the incident.

Wallis, however, apparently recognized that the prospect of a transgender MP would be hard for his constituents to understand, and stated 10 hours after his initial post that he will continue to use male pronouns and identify as a man until leaving office.

Johnson, at the time, expressed his support for Wallis, but reportedly made a joke about transgenderism at a dinner Wallis attended the night before.
