Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took aim at President Joe Biden during an interview last week, citing the commander-in-chief’s “falling poll numbers” and “collapse of support among young people” as evidence that “time for the administration is running out.”
During an interview with Spectrum News NY1 anchor Errol Louis last Friday, Ocasio-Cortez pushed Biden to sign more left-wing executive orders, hinting that Democrats may face difficulties in the upcoming election cycle.
“We need to acknowledge that this isn’t just about middle of the road, increasingly narrow band of independent voters, but, this is really about the collapse of support among young people, among Democratic base, feeling like they worked overtime to get this president elected and they aren’t necessarily being seen,” the U.S. House rep. stated.

“I think the fact that the Biden administration has not been squarely shutting down, a lot of these executive orders do convey an openness, but I do think that time for the administration is running out,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“If we don’t have people trying to do the right thing and we allow cynicism to take over, that cynicism, I believe can lead to very, very, very destructive political realities, social realities, and economic realities,” she continued. “And we can’t allow ourselves to fall into an abyss just because we lost in an election.”
On the topic of violent crime, Ocasio-Cortez appeared to state that demographics play a key role in the spike of violent crime in New York City.
“We actually start digging into the real causes and demographics and people who are struggling that are part of these incidents,” she said. “We actually found that we’ve been able to develop a system where reoccurrence of crime drops by more than 50%.”
