Conservative commentator and nationally renowned cable news host Tucker Carlson will be leaving Fox News, the network announced on Monday.
Carlson’s final episode of the highly rated Fox News program “Tucker Carlson Tonight” aired last Friday night.
Starting on Monday night, Carlson’s show will be replaced with “Fox News Tonight” and will feature a slew of other Fox News hosts until his replacement is announced.
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We Thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the network said in a statement.
“Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named,” Fox News Media said.

Carlson’s Friday show last week featured a segment about how reluctant the Biden administration’s Department of Justice is to investigate the president’s son, Hunter Biden, who is embroiled in a number of scandals and criminal investigations pertaining to his finances and foreign business dealings.

The surprise decision from the Murdoch media centerpiece comes shortly after Fox News ended a lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems with an out of court settlement that saw the network pay hundreds of millions. While Carlson’s communications were included in the lawsuit’s discovery, it is unclear if the voting machine company’s lawsuit contributed to the decision.
Carlson began his media career in the 1990’s and has had shows on multiple cable television news networks spanning from CNN, PBS, and MSNBC before joining Fox News in 2009.
The host ascended into political stardom in the years leading up to the first episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” in November of 2016, which quickly turned into one of the nation’s most popular news broadcasts in American history.
Carlson’s departure from Fox News notably comes after the network settled with Dominion Voting Systems for over $700 million in an election-related lawsuit, along with rumors that other hosts, including Dan Bongino, Jeanine Pirro, and Maria Bartiromo may be leaving the network as well.
Superimposed on the Dominion suit fallout, Carlson had released previously suppressed surveillance footage that revealed law enforcement officers had escorted protesters throughout the Capitol building and even into the Senate chamber on January 6.

“Virtually every moment of his time inside the Capitol was caught on tape,” said Carlson of the footage. “The tapes show the Capitol Police never stopped Jacob Chansley. They helped him. They acted as his tour guides.”
