The Detroit Lions on Thursday announced the death of former linebacker Jessie Lemonier, who was just 25 years old.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of former Detroit Lion Jessie Lemonier,” the NFL team wrote in a statement.
“Jessie was a model teammate and wonderful young man who is gone far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”

In 2020, Lemonier signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent from Liberty University.
Lemonier later joined the Detroit Lions, where he played in seven games.

The then player briefly played with the Arizona Cardinals and was most recently signed to a team in the USFL.
The cause of Lemonier’s death has not yet been revealed to the public.
Concern over the health and safety of NFL players became the subject of discussion all over America in early January, after Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after going into a sudden cardiac arrest.
Amidst Hamlin’s recovery, the injured player made an appearance at the Bills’ Divisional Round playoff game against the Bengals donning a hooded jacket, shades, and a mask covering his face.

At the game, Hamlin was met with a round of applause as video shows him waving his arms.
“Damar still requires oxygen and is having his heart monitored regularly to ensure there are no setbacks or after effects,” Jordon Rooney said, per the AP. “Though he is able to visit the team facility, Damar is not in position to travel often, and requires additional rest to help his body heal.”

As woke as our professional sports are these days, is there any question as to the cause of death? Or better yet, what caused the cause? I feel terrible for his family and friends and pray for God to comfort them in this time. It is horrible that they lost their son, sibling, friend, spouse. But I have nothing but contempt for the side of our government who lied about the effectiveness and safety of something that wasn’t proven and still pushed for what caused it to be required. And this goes for his employer if they required it for him to participate in their sport. They have robbed this nation of way to many of it’s youngest and brightest. That can never be recouped.
