White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre has claimed that people can’t walk across the US-Mexico border unvaccinated.
With current entry restrictions, those entering the United States through both land and air must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and provide border officials with documentation in order to prove their vaccine status.
However, while those looking to enter the US legally, who are unvaccinated, are barred from entry, migrants illegally crossing the southern border from Mexico are not being deported, or even stopped, due to their lack of proof of vaccination status, as Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy highlighted on Monday.
“Somebody unvaccinated comes over on a plane. You say that’s not okay,” Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. “Somebody walks into Texas or Arizona unvaccinated, they’re allowed to stay? Why?” Jean-Pierre was adamant that “that’s not how it works,” denying people were entering the country unvaccinated. “I know that that’s not what you guys want to happen, but that is what is happening,” Doocy retorted.
“But it’s not like somebody walks over and, that’s not…” Jean-Pierre continued, before breaking into awkward laughter.
How does Karine think illegal immigration works?
DOOCY: If somebody walks into Texas or Arizona unvaccinated, they're allowed to stay? Why?
KJP: But that's not how it works… It's not like somebody walks over *laughs*Is this an act or does she actually not get it? pic.twitter.com/axj0IW6KA4

“That’s exactly what’s happening!” Doocy added. “Thousands of people are walking in a day, some of them turn themselves over, some of them are caught, tens of thousands a week are not! That is what is happening.”
Jennie Taer, the border and immigration reporter for the Daily Caller, posted a video on Twitter from the outlet showing a gap in the southern border wall, where people walked across from Mexico to the United States.
No immigration checks were provided to those making the crossing via the gap in the border wall, including an absence of checks for if those crossing were vaccinated or unvaccinated against COVID-19.

Republican politicians, including Rep. Paul Gosar and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, have called for an immediate immigration moratorium on those seeking to enter the country.
