Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene appeared on Rep. Matt Gaetz’s podcast, Firebrand, to discuss possible priorities for Republicans should they retake the House of Representatives this November. Chief among them is a plan to restore the ranks of American troops fired for refusing COVID-19 vaccines, and “reparations” to make things right.
The House colleagues first noted that, from their personal experiences, West Point and other high profile military academies appear to be losing new pupils due to strict COVID-19 vaccine rules.
“We’re weakening America in every way,” said Greene, noting that congressmen typically nominate candidates. “Just six months ago I had a young man that ended up leaving, and he left because he refused to get vaccinated,” Greene added, “and they had treated him terribly for months.”
“I had a similar circumstance,” said Gaetz, before adding that “Our country is not stronger because they’ve driven these people away from military service.”
Gaetz: Do you support, when we get back in the majority, passing legislation to restore these service members and give reparations to those who've been driven out of the military? @RepMTG: Absolutely! They should be rightfully restored. pic.twitter.com/VblKzx2YxX

Then, Gaetz asked about a potential legislative push to restore the rank of anyone fired for refusing the vaccine, and “give reparations” to those who were forced out of the military.
“Do you support, when we get back in the majority,” Gaetz asked, “Passing legislation to restore these service members and give reparations to those who’ve been driven out of the military?”
Greene responded in the affirmative.
“Absolutely,” said Greene. “They should be restored. They should be rightfully restored.” She added, “And we have to repeal this forced vaccination for COVID-19 vaccines.”
The Biden administration mandated the COVID-19 for all active duty military personnel last year, resulting in a flurry of lawsuits and attempts by soldiers to secure religious exemption. The U.S. Armed Forces denied most of these requests, and the lawsuits have yet to bear fruit.
This is not Gaetz’s first idea for what Republicans should do if they regain the levers of power.
Last week, Gaetz entered a copy of the hard drive from Hunter Biden’s laptop into the Congressional record. At the same time, Gaetz introduced a new resolution that would strip security clearance from 51 intelligence officials who signed a letter in 2020 falsely claiming that the laptop – which has now been verified by the New York Times – was a Russian hoax.
While the resolution seemed doomed in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s congress, some observed that it may be a preview of what pro-Trump Republicans are planning for Joe Biden and his allies in 2023.
