After Congress authorized $9 billion for the first two-dose COVID-19 vaccines and a a third injection as a booster, the Biden White House now says more money is needed for a fourth dose.
The fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose was recently announced to be in development by Moderna and Pfizer, who hope to have it approved in the fall, Valiant News reported. According to the big pharma companies, it is set to contain a different mRNA formula targeting the omicron variant of the virus.
The Biden administration claims they do not have the funding needed to roll out a fourth dose of the controversial vaccine should it be approved later this year, according to Biden COVID-19 response coordinator Jeff Zients.
“We do have sufficient current inventory of vaccines, both at states and pharmacies and other access points around the country and in our central inventory for fourth doses if they’re called for this spring for our most vulnerable, including seniors,” Zients said.
“Where we do not have sufficient doses is later in the year if the science dictates that all Americans should get a booster, or if there’s a need for a new formulation of the vaccine, a variant-specific vaccine,” Zeints explained.
This is despite the $5.1 trillion authorized by Congress for COVID relief funding, which has reportedly not all been spent.
According to the Biden administration, 93% of the remaining funding from Biden’s “American Rescue Plan” has been “obligated or distributed to specific grantees or groups, including states and localities.”
Rather than utilize the remaining money, Biden apparently wants Americans to shell out even more funding for his vaccines, which do not prevent individuals from catching or spreading COVID-19.
This also comes as some experts warn of something called immune system fatigue that may result from repeated use of COVID vaccines.
Hillary Clinton and Jen Psaki have become the latest high profile, triple-vaxxed Democrats to catch COVID-19, following former President Barack Obama’s diagnosis earlier this month, Valiant News reported yesterday.
All three individuals were vocally grateful for the injections, despite them failing to prevent them from getting infected.
“I’m more grateful than ever for the protection vaccines can provide against serious illness,” Clinton wrote in a tweet. “Please get vaccinated and boosted if you haven’t already!”
