In an embarrassing social media mishap, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) deleted a post in which he claimed to be grilling food on Father’s Day.

The post, which featured a photo of raw beef patties covered with a slice of cheese on a grill, was widely mocked on social media.

Schumer captioned the now-deleted photo, “Our family has lived in an apartment building for all our years, but my daughter and her wife just bought a house with a backyard and for the first time we’re having a barbecue with hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill!” !” However, the photo clearly showed the burgers were far from being cooked, with the raw beef patties still pink and the cheese barely melted.

Twitter users were quick to point out the mistake, with many mocking Schumer for his lack of grilling skills. Some users even joked that the photo looked more like a crime scene than a Father’s Day celebration.

The post was deleted shortly after the backlash began, but not before it had been screenshotted and shared by numerous users. Schumer’s office has not yet commented on the incident.

This social media blunder comes at a time when Schumer is facing increasing scrutiny from conservatives over his leadership in the Senate. The incident has provided fodder for critics who argue that Schumer is out of touch with the American people and lacks the basic skills needed to lead the country effectively.

As the 2024 election cycle approaches, incidents like these could potentially hurt Schumer’s reelection chances. Voters may question his ability to handle the responsibilities of his office if he can’t even properly grill a burger.

In the meantime, Schumer’s Father’s Day grilling mishap serves as a reminder that even the most powerful politicians are not immune to the pitfalls of social media. As the saying goes, “the internet never forgets.”
