45th President Donald Trump is planning to host a screening of the “Sound of Freedom” film at his New Jersey golf club alongside filmmaker Eduardo Verástegui, actor Jim Caviezel, and former undercover DHS agent Tim Ballard next week.
Trump released a press release revealing his plans to host the screening at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster on July 19, 2023, inviting club members and supporters to attend the event. From Trump’s press release:
Verástegui who was previously appointed a member of President Trump’s Advisory Commission on Hispanic Prosperity and who has continuously advocated for a strong and vital bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Mexico, emphasized the importance of coming together as a society to address this pernicious evil and eradicate child trafficking.
The film is based on the true story of federal agent Tim Ballard’s mission to save children from child sex traffickers in Colombia. Liberal media outlets like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and The Hollywood Reporter have refused to review the film, while publications like Rolling Stone, Washington Post, CNN, and The Guardian have trashed the film and mocked the millions of movie-goers who purchased tickets to screenings.
The former president said he entered office “prepared to bring the full force and weight of our government” to end human trafficking, and pointed to an executive order he signed that directed federal law enforcement to “prioritize demolishing the criminal organizations behind forced labor, sex trafficking, and child exploitation” and noted that his leadership resulted in a 14% increase in human trafficking convictions in 2017.

Ballard met with Trump at the White House in 2019. He stressed the importance of building a border wall at the southern border during the visit.
“They brought this little girl through a part of the southern border where there was no wall, easily got her to New York City,” Ballard told Trump. “This is very hard to hear but it’s the truth: This little girl – and this is very typical – was raped, for money, every day, 30 to 40 times a day.”
“Had there been a wall, had there been a barrier, this little girl likely would have been saved.”

Survivors of human trafficking and their advocates have widely praised the move for its depiction of the societal evil, but media publications on the left have attempted to frame the film as “QAnon adjacent” and tied to conspiracy theories.
Caviezel is an American actor known for his roles in various films and TV shows. He is particularly famous for playing the role of Jesus Christ in the highly acclaimed movie “The Passion of the Christ” directed by Mel Gibson. In addition to his work as an actor, Caviezel is also a devout Catholic and has been involved in several Christian-themed projects throughout his career. Despite facing controversy regarding “Sound of Freedom”, Caviezel remains committed to raising awareness about important social issues through his work in entertainment.
“Sound of Freedom” grossed $41.7 million in its first week after releasing on July 4, and was the number 1 movie in Texas, Florida, and Arizona theaters. Some sources say “Sound of Freedom” has already grossed more than $50 million total. The production budget is believed to have been around $14 million.
