A plea deal for Hunter Biden is on hold after an explosive day inside a Delaware court saw US District Judge Maryellen Noreika declare she is was not ready to accept the plea deal. Hunter Biden ultimately entered a not guilty plea.
Reports from inside the courtroom by left wing outlet CNN claim that the deal is “dead and off the table” and “null and void” after a series of explosive developments led the judge to question the merits behind the agreement and legality of entering it.
The prosecution confirmed an ongoing investigation against Hunter Biden regarding FARA, which requires American citizens to register themselves if they are engaged in political activities for foreign interests.

At one point, Judge Noreika asked Biden to address one foreign company: Burisma.
“The Ukrainian energy company was Burisma, said Biden. Judge Noreika, a Trump appointee, apparently replied, “You did know that you owed tax money, right?” Biden agreed.
Describing the plea deal as “unusual,” Judge Noreika noted “non-standard terms” including “broad immunity” from other specific charges, appearing to note that Biden would not be punished for allegedly lying on federal paperwork to secure a firearm.
At one point, Judge Noreika asked prosecutor Leo Wise if there was any precedent for the type of deal proposed for Hunter Biden, according to the New York Times. Wise replied, “No, your honor.”
Again from NYT's Glenn Thrush reporting from the courtroom: "From the start, the judge seemed highly skeptical of the unusual deal — which offered Hunter Biden broad immunity from prosecution in perpetuity, questioning why it had been filed under a provision that gave her no…

Conservatives largely celebrated news that the deal had fallen apart, but questioned what type of deal may surface in its place.
“The Hunter Biden plea deal was apparently more outrageous and far reaching than had previously been publicly known,” wrote Missouri Attorney General candidate Will Scharf. “In return for pleading to the two misdemeanor tax fraud charges, with a joint recommendation of no prison time, Hunter was getting not just pretrial diversion on his felony gun charge that would leave his record clear if he completed probation, but also broad guarantees against further prosecution on a wide range of other charges that haven’t been publicly aired as of yet.”
“It’s a scandal that Biden’s DOJ was willing to agree to this kind of a deal,” Scharf added. “Fortunately, Judge Norieka isn’t playing ball.”

It remains unclear if the plea deal will ultimately be signed after prosecutors provide more information to the judge, but most pundits agree that Hunter Biden expected to leave the court house having entered a not guilty plea that would immediately resolve the matter.
