In the ongoing search for the missing Titan submersible vehicle, three U.S. Air Force planes have delivered critical equipment and tools the the Horizon Arctic, a Canadian cargo vessel that will assist in the rescue effort as part of the “last chance” to rescue the five missing passengers before air runs out on Thursday.
The Daily Mail spoke to a man standing on the docks in Canada, who claimed that he would be part of the Horizon Arctic crew. According to the man, there are currently enough air and water assets in the search area, and they are not letting anyone else go at this time.
“This will be gone by midnight tonight. It’s a miniature submarine that’s going to go down,” the man told the Daily Mail. “They’ll get there in about 15 hours. There will be a chance, a slight one.”
Explaining that the United States had delivered another submersible vehicle capable of reaching the same depths as the Titan, the man stressed that the Horizon Arctic’s mission will represent the final chance at saving the submersible before its oxygen is completed on Thursday.
“This is the last kick at it. This is the last chance,” the man stressed. “There’s no other chance other than this ROV (underwater vehicle).”

“I’m really, really hoping. It will be a tragedy for everyone if this is not found. A tragedy on top of a tragedy.”
The craft is “the Odysseus 6K, which is capable of going to a depth of 6,000 meters, or 19,000 feet.” The Mail added that the OceanGate Explorations Titanic tourist vessel “is thought to be at a depth of around 12,500 feet.”
Meanwhile, Express reported that “One load contained a giant red roll of thick cable and two large machines with a blue frame and a sign on the side saying ‘high voltage,'” and “Another load contained two heavy-duty Hyundai winches with ‘6000 kg line pull’ written on the side of each.”
Although the situation remains perilous, there is hope that the Horizon Arctic and its crew will be successful in locating the lost vessel.
It was reported last night that knocking was heard using sonar equipment on the surface. The knocking was heard every 30 minutes, prompting rescuers to focus on the area, however at press time nothing has been found. It’s unclear if the knocking remains ongoing.

Titan was carrying five passengers or crew members when it lost contact with the surface: Shahzada Dawood, one of Pakistan’s richest men, his son Sulaiman Dawood, British billionaire Hamish Harding, OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, and French submersible pilot Paul-Henri Nergeolet. Seats aboard the vessel cost tourists $250,000 each.
Yesterday it was reported that the vessel used a third party Xbox 360 controller to pilot the vessel, though it remains unclear if the video game controller was in use at the time the submersible lost contact with a surface vessel on Sunday.
