Canadian actor Elliot Page, a female-to-male transgender person born Ellen Page, recently revealed that he heard a “voice” inside his head suggesting a gender transition after a period of self-harm.
In a column describing the 36-year-old’s “survival” in a world that knew little of transgenderism until recently, the Los Angeles Times reveals that Page wrote in his book, “Pageboy”, that he heard a voice inside his head prompting him to embrace the transgender ideology after violently harming himself with his fists:
One night, he tried to knock himself out. Took his knuckles to his face and pounded over and over until bruises formed. For days after, he sat in a lawn chair on the porch, ashamed, his face sore. And then he heard a voice.
“You don’t have to feel this way.”
It was a small voice, barely discernible. But it kept echoing in his head. A way out.
The piece then quotes Page, who seemed to describe hearing a voice inside his head prior to the decision to drop female pronouns and cut off his breasts.
“It was as if something in my brain turned around,” Page wrote in the book. “The agonizing voice saying, ‘No, you’re not,’ ‘No, you can’t’ just switched and became very gentle and loving. ‘Oh, maybe I’m trans. Why don’t I explore that?'”

According to the LA Times, Page was able to meet with a doctor via Zoom and arrange for his breasts to be surgically removed “within weeks,” and the Juno star informed social media followers of the transition a month later, requesting they begin referring to him as Elliot.
Some Twitter users have questioned the significance of the “voice” and Page’s self harm, wondering if the “Trailer Park Boys” actor may have suffered from an undiagnosed mental illness prior to removing his healthy breast tissue.
Elliot Page just revealed to the LA Times that it was voices in her head that convinced her to get her breasts amputated.
The voice said, “Oh, maybe I’m trans. Why don’t I explore that?”
Did doctors know this when they operated on Page?

Prior to becoming a transgender person, Page openly identified as a lesbian and voice of the LGBT community.
