Robert F. Kennedy Jr., often known as RFK Jr., officially declared his candidacy seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in 2024 on Wednesday during an event in Boston, Massachusetts and pledged to end the “corrupt merger of state and corporate power” in America.
Kennedy, the nephew of President John F. Kennedy and the son of former attorney general Robert F. Kennedy, entered the race with 14 percent support against incumbent Joe Biden.
“My mission over the next 18 months of this campaign and throughout my presidency will be to end the corrupt merger of state and corporate power that is threatening out to impose a new kind of corporate feudalism in our country, to commoditize our children, our purple mountains majesty,” said Kennedy in his announcement.
He added that corporations have captured government “To poison our children and our people with chemicals and pharmaceutical drugs. To strip-mine our assets. To hollow out the middle class and keep us in a constant state of war.”

Kennedy was recently found to be “favorable” among 46 percent of potential 2024 Democratic presidential primary voters, according to a new Morning Consult poll released last Tuesday.
Biden maintains a significant lead in the Democratic primary field, but Kennedy seems to be his most popular opponent in front of spiritual guru Marianne Williamson, who struggles to receive more than 10 percent in most Democratic primary surveys.
Among other issues outlining his 2024 campaign, Kennedy wants to restore public trust in American institutions by rooting out corruption and bolstering civil liberties.
“A democratic government is supposed to be of, by, and for the people. But government institutions have betrayed our trust. The intelligence agencies spy on our own people. Government and tech platforms conspire to surveil and censor the public. Regulatory agencies have been captured by those they are supposed to regulate,” reads a statement on his presidential campaign website.
“We will roll back the secrecy and make government transparent. We will protect whistleblowers and prosecute officials who abuse the public trust,” Kennedy’s site says. “We will restore integrity to government.”
