Joe Biden has formally announced his run for the Democratic presidential nomination for 2024, attacking “MAGA extremists” in his launch video.
Biden released his first 2024 campaign video on Tuesday, which was the four year anniversary of when he declared his initial intentions to run for president in the 2020 election, back in 2019.
In the video, Biden touted that the primary work of his “first term” was to protect “personal freedom” and “fight for democracy.” The former Vice President then attacked “MAGA extremists,” who he claimed were “lining up to take on those bedrock freedoms” of Americans.
According to Biden, the “bedrock freedoms” that he wants to protect include Social Security, the right for women to abort their child, and the “right” for people to choose “who they can love.”
“When I ran for President four years ago, I said we were in a battle for the soul of America, and we still are,” Biden said. “The question we’re facing is, whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom. More rights or fewer. I know what I want the answer to be, and I think you do too. This is not a time to be complacent.”
The slogan for the Biden 2024 election campaign appears to be “let’s finish this job,” with the video ending showing that quote, along with it being reproduced on his official website.
Every generation has a moment where they have had to stand up for democracy. To stand up for their fundamental freedoms. I believe this is ours.
That’s why I’m running for reelection as President of the United States. Join us. Let’s finish the job. https://t.co/V9Mzpw8Sqy pic.twitter.com/Y4NXR6B8ly

Kamala Harris later confirmed that she would still be standing with Biden on the Democratic ticket for a 2024 run. “As Americans, we believe in freedom and liberty – and we believe that our democracy will only be as strong as our willingness to fight for it,” Harris tweeted.

Responding to the news, the official Republican Party Twitter account posted a video with a hypothetical future, where Biden, who they described as “the weakest president we’ve ever had,” was elected in 2024.
Such potential events if Biden were to be elected in 2024 include China invading Taiwan, a new financial crisis, illegal immigrants swarming the border, and major cities, like San Francisco, being further effected by rampant crime and drug usage.

Earlier this month, Biden gave an incoherent answer when asked by a reporter during the White House Easter Egg Roll if he was going to be running for election in 2024. “Well, I’ll either, I’ll eith—I’ll either be rollin’ egg or, uh, being the, the gu—you know, the guy who’s pushing them out,” he told a reporter.
Two others have declared their candidacy for the Democratic nomination, including Marianne Williamson, and Robert F Kennedy Jr, who formally launched his campaign last week.
“My mission over the next 18 months of this campaign and throughout my presidency will be to end the corrupt merger of state and corporate power that is threatening out to impose a new kind of corporate feudalism in our country, to commoditize our children, our purple mountains majesty,” Kennedy told a Boston crowd.
A Morning Consult poll from earlier this month gives Biden a 70% lead among Democrat voters, with Kennedy on 10%, and Williamson on 4%.
