Arizona resident and Pinal County Sheriff Mark lamb testified before Congress on Feb. 28 about the failure of the Biden administration to deliver effective policies related to border security and illegal immigration.
“I will tell you, the lines of communication were severed when this [Biden] administration took over,” Lamb said. “We have zero communication on the federal side, which is disappointing.”
“I would also just like to say in closing that we’ve got to do better on saying — the messaging, the media, the politicians — you’ve got to stop saying it’s a manufactured crisis,” Lamb added. “The statistics I’ve given you say otherwise. And you have to stop saying that the border is secure, because the border is not secure.”
The sheriff noted, “It is far, far worse than it has ever been for us, and I do share the opinion that the federal government has abandoned us.”
“In 2018, we had zero seizures” of fentanyl, Lamb related, also noting that “and in 2019 we had around 700 pills. In 2020 we had over 200,000 pills. In 2021 we had over 1.2 million pills, and this last year we had over 1.4 million pills come into my community.”
As Valiant News previously reported, many law enforcement officials are frustrated with Joe Biden’s handpicked Customs and Border patrol czar, CBP commissioner Chris Magnus.
Per Politico, officials noted Magnus “often doesn’t attend White House meetings on the situation on the border, badmouths other agencies to colleagues and superiors, and has not built relationships within CBP and across other agencies to address the influx of migrants at the border.”
Additionally, the sources claimed Magnus is “unfamiliar with some of the operations of CBP and instead is focused primarily on reforming the culture of the Border Patrol, addressing its long list of allegations of racism and violence.”
Magnus reportedly brings up his complaints about ICE during unrelated conversations, with one of Politico’s sources quoted as saying, “He’s not in the game. Every time there’s a meeting and he’s in it, we’ll get to a conclusion and Magnus will have some sidebar issue that he wants to raise and we’re all like ‘What the f**k is that about?’”
