Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was hospitalized last night after attending a private fundraiser at an establishment that was formerly owned by 45th President Donald Trump.

Multiple reports now confirm McConnell was attending a “private dinner” in a Washington, D.C. hotel near the National Mall when he fell and became injured enough to justify hospitalization.

A spokesman for McConnell confirmed that “McConnell tripped at a local hotel during a private dinner” and the 81-year-old politician “has been admitted to the hospital where he is receiving treatment.”

Though unconfirmed, many reports also claim that the dinner took place at the Waldorf Astoria Washington D.C., located down the street from the White House at 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

Trump famously purchased the building, formerly a stately post office, and restored it to his standards. He sold the building shortly after his first term in office, when Democrats raised questions about whether Trump personally benefited from supporters and state guests patronizing the establishment.

McConnell’s accident came only hours after he spoke against House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Fox News, and Tucker Carlson for broadcasting previously unseen footage that contradicts the government’s narrative on the events of January 6, 2021, describing McCarthy’s decision to release the footage as a “mistake.”

The elderly politician has become the third senator to be hospitalized in recent weeks.

McConnell joins Democratic Sen. John Fetterman, 53, who is currently in his third week of hospitalization for severe depression, and Democratic Sen. Diane Feinstein, 89, who reportedly contracted shingles and is now recovering at home.

Previously, the state of McConnell’s health was questioned in late 2020, when he was photographed with hand that was discolored black and blue.

Quoting dermatologists, the New York Post later claimed that McConnell was suffering from “easy bruising” that “comes with old age,” a condition called “senile purpura.”

A dermatologist told the publication that “Your skin just naturally becomes more fragile as you age,” and “I think it’s just a bruise — a solid good bruise.”
