Republican State Parties Celebrate ‘Kwanzaa’ Despite Its Bizarre Origins

Kwanzaa was created in the 1960s by a radical black nationalist, who designed it to be a part of a “cultural revolution” that was needed to prepare for a “violent revolution”…

Three state Republican Parties – Pennsylvania, California, and Connecticut – have put out celebratory messages for the radical anti-white, anti-Christian “Kwanzaa” holiday on Twitter.

On Monday, the Pennsylvania GOP posted a graphic for the supposed African-American holiday of “Kwanzaa” on their official Twitter account. “We hope you have a blessed Kwanzaa and new year,” they posted, including a graphic of the Kwanzaa candles.

Kwanzaa was created deliberately in the 1960s by a radical anti-white activist called Maulana Karenga, as an alternative to Christmas, and other traditional American celebrations, which he slammed as “crazy cracker celebrations.” Christianity was a “white religion” that black people should shun, he believed.

More specifically, Kwanzaa had to exist to form part of a “cultural revolution” among black Americans that must exist “before the violent revolution,” according to Karenga. “The cultural revolution gives identity, purpose and direction” to that violent revolution.

Karenga spent four years in prison in California, after he was sentenced in 1971 for felony assault and false imprisonment, after women testified that he and other men tortured them, including stripping them naked, and then whipping them with an electrical cord.

With the radical leftist history of Kwanzaa obvious to anyone, the Pennsylvania GOP was swiftly attacked on Twitter for posting a message celebrating the holiday.

Two other state Republican Parties also posted Kwanzaa messages. Jessica Millan Patterson, the chair of the California GOP, tweeted a graphic wishing a happy Kwanzaa, which was retweeted by the official account.

While the Connecticut GOP did not post a specific graphic and message designed for Kwanzaa, their official account retweeted a celebratory message from the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association.

Democrats were understandably more willing to celebrate the made-up holiday. Nancy Pelosi wished people a “happy Schwanza,” slurring the word on the House floor last week. In a video message posted to social media on Monday, Kamala Harris, with her husband Doug, claimed that when she was “growing up, Kwanzaa was always a special time” in her household.

“We came together with generations of friends and family and neighbours,” Harris claimed. “There were never enough chairs, so my sister and I and the other children would often sit on the floor, and together we lit the candles of the kinara, and then the elders would talk about how Kwanzaa is a time to celebrate culture, community, and family.”

However, as noted by Greg Price and others, the claim seemed dubious given Harris’s age, as Kwanzaa “didn’t reach the height of its commercial popularity until the 90s.”
