Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene ridiculed liberal obsession over January 6 in Manhattan this weekend during a speech at the New York Young Republican Club Gala.
During her remarks, Greene told a comical story about how she had been accused by Democrats of giving “insurrection tours” throughout the Capitol building during the first few days of her first term from January 3 to January 6, despite her being mostly unfamiliar with the building’s layout.
“I come to Washington, I swear in on January 3rd and get accused of giving ‘insurrection tours,’ which I thought was hilarious because I couldn’t even find the bathroom in the Capitol. True story,” Greene said at the New York Young Republican Club Gala on Sunday night.
Then, Greene joked that if January 6 had been a legitimate, planned, and organized revolt against the United States government by conservatives, the result would have been much different.

“Then January 6 happens and next thing you know I ‘organized’ the whole thing along with Steve Bannon here. And I want to tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, we would’ve been armed,” Greene joked.
Greene pointed out that the so-called “insurrection” was carried out by unarmed conservative protestors, and that it would be ridiculous to believe that they would’ve left their guns at home before attempting to overthrow the country.
“See, that’s the whole joke, isn’t it? They say that whole thing was planned and I’m like, are you kidding me? A bunch of conservatives? Second amendment supporters went in the Capitol without guns and they think we organized that? I don’t think so.”
After complaints from numerous Democrats who she says are attempting to twist and “weaponize” her remarks, Greene’s office issued a statement regarding the January 6 joke.
“The White House needs to learn how sarcasm works. My comments were making fun of Joe Biden and the Democrats, who have continuously made me a political target since January 6th,” Greene said.

“Every day, I receive violent threats against my life simply because Democrats & the media have lied and smeared my character for the past 2 years. Including threats resulting in actual arrests with criminal charges & threats against my home in an attempt to have me killed,” the statement continued.
“Rather than trying to weaponize a sarcastic joke I made, they should be going after people like Yoel Roth who silenced a sitting President and allowed child pornography to run rampant on Twitter,” Greene said.
