As many conservative pundits point to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ landslide victory on Tuesday as evidence that he is now the “future” of the Republican Party, 45th President Donald Trump on Wednesday pointed out that he received over one million more votes in Florida during his own reelection attempt in 2020.
After DeSantis defeated his Democrat opponent Charlie Christ by a staggering 1.5 million votes, several conservative online personalities, political strategists, and Republican-leaning news publications asserted their position that the Florida Governor should be the Republican nominee for president in 2024.
In light of the new, midterm election-driven political forecast, President Trump took to Truth Social to note that while DeSantis did “quite well” in his successful reelection bid, the former president received 1.1 million more votes in Florida during the 2020 presidential election.
“Now that the Election in Florida is over, and everything went quite well, shouldn’t it be said that in 2020, I got 1.1 Million more votes in Florida than Ron D got this year, 5.7 Million to 4.6 Million? Just asking?” Trump wrote.

Despite Republicans failing to see a “red wave” during the midterm elections, President Trump has been celebrating the wins of 92% of the candidates he endorsed.
As of right now, 216 Trump-endorsed Republican candidates have seen victories in their midterm elections, including Ohio Senate candidate JD Vance, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, and Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson.
In response to various reports suggesting that President Trump is displeased with the midterm election results for his endorsed candidates, the former president told Fox News Digital that “”There is a fake news narrative that I was furious — it is just the opposite.”
“The people I endorsed did very well. I was batting 98.6% in the primaries, and 216 to 19 in the general election — that is amazing,” Trump said. “All these guys that are winning are my people.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene took to the defense of President Trump, after winning her own reelection, to push back against those who claim that the former president’s endorsements and antics kept Republican victories from reaching their full potential during an appearance on Real America’s Voice earlier today, Valiant News reported.

“Now, they’re trying to blame President Trump today and I want to tell you how short sighted and ridiculous that is. It is pathetic. The people that are running out saying, ‘it’s Trump’s fault,’ no. That is a lazy, pathetic, wimpy, easy mindset,” Greene said.
“They just want one thing and then they want to carry on without doing the hard work, the real changes in the Republican Party, and the way we fight the fight.”

Despite the results of the midterm elections, and remarks by critics concerning a potential DeSantis 2024 bid, President Trump maintains that his endorsed candidates saw “tremendous success.”
President Trump added that he is still set to make his major statement on November 15, which many have speculated will entail an official announcement for his 2024 presidential run.
“Why would anything change?” Trump said of the potential future announcement.
