Arizona gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake responded to accusations of being an “election denier” on Tuesday by producing evidence of Democrats denying myriad elections, going back over 20 years to the year 2000.
Lake told a reporter, “I knew you were going to ask that question,” before having an aide – who she noted had “done better research than half these people” in the room – hand her a stack of news printouts documenting Democrat election denials.
Statements undermining the democratic electoral process from White House Press Secretary karine Jean-Pierre and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton were cited, among others.
“So it is OK for Democrats to question elections, but it is not OK for Republicans? It is a crock of B.S. and every one of you knows it,” Lake noted. “We have the freedom of speech and we’re not going to relinquish it to a bunch of fake news propagandists,” she added.

“Since 2000, people have questioned the legitimacy of our elections,” Lake said. “What we’re asking is in the future, we won’t have to have that happen anymore. When I’m governor, we’re going to make sure we have honest elections. We want the Democrats, Independents, and Republicans to all know their votes counted.”
“Hillary Clinton said George W. Bush was selected and not elected as president, so if you’re going to throw around terms like election denier, remember who the other election deniers are, Hillary Clinton and all the Democrats,” she added.
The Trump-endorsed Lake is facing current Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs in the November midterm election.
Hobbs has refused to debate Lake, drawing criticism from nonpartisan and left-wing outlets, as well as Lake’s supporters.
