Conservative journalist and Infowars founder Alex Jones has been ordered to pay $4.1 million dollars out to the families of Sandy Hook shooting victims after a trial that has been described as a “kangaroo court” by legal experts.
In a video statement posted to his video website, Banned.Video, Jones celebrated the jury’s decision, but warned that there may be more yet to come, as the “punitive damages” part of the trial is set to begin today.
“The lawyers for the plaintiffs asked for between $150 million and $3 billion. The jury came in this evening with $4.2 million,” said Jones.
“I admitted I was wrong, I admitted I made a mistake, I admitted that I followed disinformation, not on purpose,” Jones explained. “I apologized to the families, and the jury understood that. What I did to those families was wrong, but I didn’t do it on purpose.” He added, “That’s more money than my company and I personally have, but we are going to work on trying to make restitution.”
Jones added that he considers the jury’s verdict “a major victory for truth.”
Judges in Texas and Connecticut had previously ruled that Jones is liable for defamation by default, claiming he did not comply with court orders and turning over documents. Jones fervently disputes these rulings, claiming he and his media company Free Speech Systems did comply with discovery.
“[The] plaintiffs lawyers pretended Jones had documents he never had (marketing plans, transcripts, internal video indexes, etc., all about Sandy Hook) b/c their theory is false about him. So they pretended he hid it, and judges did too. All bogus,” tweeted attorney Robert Barnes.
“Hate #AlexJones all you want, but no one should welcome a trial that tramples on the First Amendment, punishes speech about the Second Amendment, ignores due process under the Fifth Amendment, denies a trial by jury on truth under the Seventh Amendment & violates A/C privilege,” tweeted Barnes, who described the trial as a “Kangaroo court!”
A lawyer who recieves privileged material by mistake is ethically obligated to return it, not review it, and not use it. This is the plaintiffs lawyer in #AlexJones case admitting in open court a disbarment level ethical violation, and the court doing nothing. Kangaroo court! https://t.co/J7ZXYRTm0u

Earlier this week, video footage from the defamation damages trial showed parents of Sandy Hook school shooting victims shaking hands with Jones before their lawyer angrily interrupted to insult the famous radio broadcaster.

More recently, the judge presiding over Jones’ case, Maya Guerra Gamble, appears to have been revealed as a strong Democrat, pro-vaccine and mask supporter. She has been described as being “the most laughably biased judge in America.”
In photos of Gamble released on Twitter, the judge can be observed wearing a blue wig, accompanied with LGBTQ-style rainbows in her pictures, pro-vaccine and pro-lockdown messages, as well as strong indications that she is a Democrat.
“She wouldn’t be bias at all,” sarcastically tweeted one user.

Earlier in the trial, Jones was asked by the opposing counsel if he believes “that government officials are aiding in pedophelia, child trafficking and the grooming of children.”
“You mean like, what Jeffrey Epstein did with the Clintons?” Jones replied.
