First Lady Dr. Jill Biden claimed during a speech at the “Latinx IncluXion Luncheon” on Monday that Hispanics are as unique as “tacos” and “bogidas,” the latter term appearing to be a butchering of “bodega.”
“But we can’t get these things on our own,” Dr. Jill explained. “Raul helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community, as distinct as the bogidas [sic] of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio.”

Biden received widespread criticism for the “bogidas” comment, as well as the claim that Hispanics are as unique as breakfast tacos.
The very idea of the term “Latinx” is rejected by many Latinos.
Monday’s “Latinx IncluXion luncheon” appeared calculated to raise the flagging approval ratings of President Joe Biden and Democrat party policies among the US’ Hispanic population.
The Latinx event website promised viewers the “opportunity to learn about and collaborate on issues ranging from housing to health, racial equity to education, diversity and inclusion to owning our narrative as a community, and more.”
“Equity in education is the foundation for equity in every other sector,” a description for a panel at the Latinx luncheon read. “As the pandemic and the Uvalde massacre have underscored the need for culturally and linguistically competent health responses, the nation’s leaders join us to chart the path forward for Latino children and families.”
The White House has not clarified what a “bogida” is as of press time.
