Fox News television host Tucker Carlson mocked the calls by liberal health officials to rename monkeypox due to concerns about “racist implications,” offering up the substitute name “Schlong Covid.”
Carlson held a poll on his Twitter account Thursday night asking audiences to choose between replacement names such as “Hunter Hives,” the “Midterm Variant,” “Adam Schiffilis,” and, of course, “Schlong Covid.”
Of the some 26,000 votes cast, Schlong Covid was the clear winner with 40%, almost double that of the closest contender.
“Monkeypox is about the coolest name for a disease, ‘can’t come today I’ve got the monkey,'” Carlson said on Thursday’s show. “But they are changing the name because of racism or something. Well for once, we don’t know who they are and we are not going to allow it.
“We are going to change the name this time, we are going to do it with the public’s help because democracy is real,” Carlson continued.

“So we had a vote, there was no ballot harvesting, you can trust our counting and the new name for monkeypox is now officially, and we are declaring it, Schlong Covid,” Carlson announced. “That won our audience election result with about 40 percent of the votes.
“So, let Rochelle Walensky at the CDC know,” he concluded. “Her number is 1-800-232-4636. Wait for the prompt on monkeypox and make your voice heard because it’s still a democracy.”
A Fox News panel on monkeypox erupted after Ned Ryun suggested people should avoid “gay orgies” to not catch monkeypox.
Speaking on Kennedy Nation on Tuesday night, Ned Ryun, a senior fellow at American Greatness, handed out some good advice for those worried about monkeypox. “I think there’s a pretty good rule in life,” Ryun said. “Don’t attend gay orgies.”
The panel, which included host Kennedy Montgomery, and Brad Polumbo, a policy correspondent at the Foundation for Economic Education, began expressing their outrage at Ryun’s comments, who remained defiant.
